Love of Learning: Fun Math for kids

Math is fun.
Until a few months ago I never thought of being able to write. But ...
My career started in middle school, when I enjoyed solving problems in geometry, sensing the short circuit of thought that brought me to the solution: eureka!
Then a long succession of dark ages, those in which I did not understand a damn thing, the numbers for me had become a language incomprehensible ... University, blessed in my readings and forays into Italian literature, frankly I forgot the math ...
Then ... with the blog I opened up a world made of people just to teach their children something they start to learn with them, plotting strategies to make math more palatable. It probably is in itself, but as a nice piece of roast should be cut into pieces to be swallowed and digested, so is the math ... A world that has made me appreciate the work that began last year of my colleagues with their pupils: a laboratory course that has made the arduous interesting discipline in the eyes of fun for kids and the teachers themselves!
And now ... Now I got to play with Tangram, looking for the secret, to track the number kolam and dreaming of gold ... but also to a draft e-book that lay 4 hands with Pi Magna Graecia, the Professor of guest post I wrote last week (click here , all post on the math) ...
Love of Learning, as you know, is a means of sharing experiences ... significant experience in the fire the spark of the joy of learning.
I will begin

1) activities Bricologica . Thirty mathematical objects from build with your hands (ed. Galapagos), a book that I have been provided by Pi Magna Graecia. We started from tile-puzzle:

are built of squares of light card, and then measure the midpoints of the sides. Once you are marked with lines of irregular but not too complicated joining two neighboring midpoints. That's created the tiles are then put together: you create endless design possibilities! Just rotate, move or swap the tiles and the design change at all!
The same author, mathematician Ghattas, has also written a more theoretical text, but still interesting and understandable, Salads di matematica .

I count and are the number 1 ...

3) Activities to find on the web ...
I recommend some sites to consult, but if you want a longer list can be found between the Links, the page 4kids/4family ...
- SuperteacherWorksheets , where you will find many exercises printable divided by topic and difficulty levels. I used those on the villages, they are very nice ...
- Math Materials is in German, but fortunately the numbers are a universal language, so if you do not understand immediately, and you just open the links materials appear!
- Math is Fun, with the illustrated dictionary of mathematics and different ideas and activities divided by sectors.

Italy: Rome

Powered by BannerFans.com

I keep my personal journey through the beautiful things, to participate, Sybille, 150 Italy ... and offer ideas for a trip the whole family bambini compresi...

A proposito, the Casina di Raffaello interesting workshops take place
-visit the Museum and Explora Technotown , its version for older children at the Villa Torlonia-
put his hand in the Mouth of Truth
-hole look at the the ceiling of the Pantheon
-frightened at the sight of skeletons and images of death in the church of S. Maria Oration and Death
-down underground in the catacombs

In this site there are different ideas of themed itineraries: in the footsteps of Julius Caesar, or the Ancient Egyptians, still in the thousands of stairs all gorgeous ... In this other page other suggestions also very curious ... Both are sites where are some places outside of Rome because Lazio is very nice ... I think the boat trip on the Tiber to Ostia to Park Zoomarine Torvaianica at Monster Park Bomarzo and Villa d'Este in Tivoli.

Cover Letter Forhygienist

In what world do I live? Two prayers in unison

I've been a professional soldier. And I was educated at a strict school that, among other things, gave the highest importance to the rule of punctuality. I confess that, rather recognizes pigro, mi è costato molto adeguarmi.
Ho fatto questa piccola premessa per dire che oggi pomeriggio sono rimasto really shocked to see that the members of our beloved government with its head in the head, a television link already in place, has totally snubbed the afternoon meeting at the Chamber of Deputies, presented in the classroom well beyond the expected time for the start of the declarations to vote.
Mr. La Malfa, who had begun his speech, did not miss the opportunity to note the complete absence of government representatives. And he also pointed out on. Di Pietro.
And both have done very well.
But, I say, as an example of professionalism can expect to give (the lowercase letters are desired) Prime Minister, ministers and secretaries so rough and without respect for others? Respect is not a word abstract and meaningless. Sometimes it is also their schedules (at least that was and still is for me).
Saragat said that punctuality is the prerogative of kings! Today
reign supreme arrogance and bad manners of a political class with no more respect for anyone, not even for the people to represent.
Not to mention the behavior of carters and fishmongers who is now a rule for those sitting on benches in the House.

Where Can I Ranczo Online

exams, courses, and new blog for kids

Today, reading a post by Small happiness, which tells the courses and workshops that is following, I paused for a moment about the different experience that I am living, knowing more and more clear that you never stop learning ...

First, I registered again at the University!

Yes, you read that right: after a strong degree of old order in contemporary letters (why I enrolled in its modern literature you can read in this post ), a post-graduate specialization course in Teaching Literature, a Ph.D. in Modern Philology on Dante ... Well, yes ... I'm back to being a student, a Master's Degree in Leadership of schools! (IAD School of the University of Tor Vergata, distance learning course ...)

I'm attending a course held at my school on School Administration and ...

also know that there is also the course of the workshop on Teaching Montessori Method ... By the way, you can finally see the baby blog, it is still not great but soon grow: Montessori Transition ! The materials and suggestions that I have kindly donated them we are putting to good use!

And then ... I must say that I realized going back on posts older than I am changed by this blog, how many people I met, I can almost hear the presence ... and how far I have opened, that of a hands-on teaching, dell'homeschooling part time, mathematics creative and interesting, dare I say moving, aware of parenting ... roads and streets and roads that I never imagined to walk, worlds which are not suspected to exist, prospects endless!

So thanks to all of you who accompanied me in this adventure.

(Soon a surprise ... oh, I forgot the photos I took in Iceland)

Growing up is a fairy tale .... Each in its place

In this post I will show you a meter that measures children or made to order ..

I was asked to create a meter measuring the children who had starring Tinker Bell, because the child who will receive è nipote di una super appassionata di questa fatina, ed ho inziato a dipingere....

Ma questo misura bimbi è un regalo speciale, infatti è for the first birthday of the small
and to make it unique from Tinkerbell's wand magically appears his name .... Annabella

the end you just have to add the numbers you will see the growth of small Annabella, unfortunately the photos do not see why I took to finish first, but they are also sfavilanti of fairy dust ..

And here's the final result ..

the aunt liked it, I hope that Anna will appreciate it, maybe in a while:)

Italy: Tuscany

Powered by BannerFans.com

With this post I begin my personal address book to participate, Sybille, 150 Italy ... from my point of view of mother and teacher Traveling with children is very important indeed to find a place that offers better opportunities for young people ... the only way travel is for the whole family and not just parents who barely drag their children to museums, or worse, to the detriment of the children of the need of parents to see something interesting ...

is not a place just for families but also for teachers who accompany pupils on a school trip ...

start from Tuscany ... What are the most fun and meaningful activities to do with kids?

- boat cruise through the center of the city of Pisa, with three possibilities: Lungarni Tour, Tour Lungarni + Park St. Flushing, or with the addition of the Mouth of the Arno
- visit the imposing Michelangelo's David the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence
- the Leonardo Museum, with its display of 60 machines of Leonardo's invention, and several guided tours suitable for all ages (6 years) and the opportunity to take part in a workshop The look on Leonardo
- Park and Lake San Rossore Massaciuccoli on board a train ride on the eco-
walls of Lucca
- art museum for children Siena, one of the few Italian and offers an approach to the art museum suitable for children
- Garzoni Garden visit and Parco di Pinocchio in Collodi

My suggestion for those traveling with children is to plan for each day an event suitable for them, but also attractive to adults, as indeed are all the activities mentioned ... accept more readily if they have to then follow you into something that is theoretically more appropriate for adults, but here it is not always so: traveling here and there I noticed that also a museum può diventare simpatico per i bambini, basta organizzare una caccia al tesoro (ad esempio, trovare gli animali che si nascondono nei dipinti esposti e appuntarli su un notes... vince chi ne trova di più) o ancora fotografare cose strane in giro per le città, interrompendo ogni tanto i nostri tours con una pausa gelato o cioccolata calda (a seconda della stagione).

Scrapbook Birthday Invatiations

So pray to the Christian
'Lord,' that I know see the face of the last Thy face and serve you by serving the poor! "

So please whoever does not believe in God but in man:
"Brother marginalized, Please accept my sympathy because in your eyes I see reflected my own dignity!"

Ultimately it is the same thing. The practical result is what counts. Or at least I think.

Fibonacci: the Numbers of God

1) Pi Magna Grecia, il mio mentor in the magical world of mathematics, loaned me a book by Anna Cerasoli which also speaks of the Fibonacci sequence
2) Sybille publish a post on Nature by entering the number above beautiful video

short, two I have keys that open access to what I would describe my personal approach to mathematics. It is not the mathematics that have tried to teach me in school, in which the only joys were the lessons on Euclidean geometry, but ... Math!
So, like when you start looking for something special and appear to us that we had never noticed before, appear here ...

You know, there is also a virtual museum of the golden section ...
All that is commonly considered Bello has a certain connection with Fibonacci: the Mona Lisa as the Parthenon, the Well-Tempered Clavier of Bach and the perfection of a face.

In the video below you can listen to an explanation in English enough to understand, even for Italian speakers:

Even though this video understandable "written" in English:

Professor of Mathematics, arm pineapple, cabbage, roman, daisies and show the phalanges of the fingers from now, who knows what your students do not begin to love your material ...

PS And then, but you know how many mathematicians were born in Italy? Look at this page and you will know ...

Where is democracy?

"I'm not a politician nor a journalist, so many things I struggle to understand them. So for example I feel almost all political forces to refer to the concept of democracy without ever wondering if, because it becomes effective, some prerequisites are not necessary, as one-on-autonomy of individual thought. And even if this autonomy can survive in our media universe based on the news, gossip, Sanremo. What does the consensus, another key word in politics, when is enough to get a Berlusconi? "

fully share this view I found the blog of Boris Porena .

I am also fully convinced that our democracy is not. The much-vaunted democracy is part of the deception of words. Our system of government, as currently practiced in fact, is rather an oligo-pluto-clerical-party-Velino-gerontocracy.
Try to enter into the meaning of each of the 5-6 and you will see that it is so little words. So much for democracy!

Love of Learning: Guerrilla Learning

A book that I recommend to anyone who reads in English ... In fact there is no Italian translation, unfortunately. But for whom English is not just the digests, I try to bring you a summary. The subtitle reads: How to give your children real education with or without school ... yes, how?

This alternative is the goal of Guerrilla Learning.
For there to be real learning need a meaningful context, which is often missing in school. Just think of the children's spontaneous questions: should they arise in the context. That's because the real learning does not take place between banks, but on holiday, when they speak at home, on the afternoon of boredom, travel, in that sort of unschooling is that all our time in our family life.
Education is not exhausted by the school, indeed! education is the responsibility and privilege of the family , che si serve dello strumento scolastico per completare l'opera.

How to succeed in school? What is the relationship you had with the teacher? What feelings predominated? From the social point of view how was your experience?

No Exercise 2
Imagine having to write a beginner's guide to something that you do well today, at work, or as a hobby ...
Try to name it after, for example, help to make a blog, or guide to use the washing machine, put forth a list of basic skills that are essential for success. Review the list and mark those skills you have acquired at school. There are many or few? They are among the most important or not?

E hours we pull the money ...

What is the relationship you had with the school? What has really taught you that still necessary?
What are you different as a parent from the model of your parents? How to help your child become a person "educated" to develop creative thinking? What is the school in your child's life?

Participate by leaving a comment or, better, with your post ...
Let then the link to your post below ( is the url that appears when you click on the title of the post )
